Using oral history in creative ways

Online meeting of the OHS Creative Special Interest Group

Tuesday 1st July – noon to 1pm

OHS members are invited to join a video meeting of the UK Oral History Society “Creative Special Interest Group” to learn about projects using oral history in creative ways.

The “Creative Special Interest Group” exists to help share ideas and resources about how oral history can be used in a huge variety of creative ways, ranging from being the source for theatre, music, films, video games, radio features, museum exhibits, activism and social change, literature, visual arts, and much more.

Following this meeting, we aim to meet monthly to continue discussions and sharing resources and projects about Creative Use of Oral Histories.

Who?

If you are a member of the OHS and you are involved in a project that is using oral history in a creative way, we invite you to come speak about what you are doing or would like to do.

We’re aiming to hear from 5-8 people and organisations, each providing a short description of what you are doing and then use that to start a discussion about how we can expand our contacts and connect with others who are using or would like to use oral history in inventive ways.

What else?

One possibility is to have a special edition of the Oral History Journal especially dedicated to Creative Reuse of Oral Histories, with articles, overviews, and invitations to encourage more experimentation, celebration, expansion of oral history as a starting point for artistic and other creative projects.

If you wish to attend or want to talk about a project, please contact:
