Oral History Workshop: Summaries and Transcripts
A half-day workshop on documenting oral history interviews using content summaries and transcripts.
The sessions will cover how to choose the right style of documentation for your project, quality checking, preparing transcripts for project outputs such as exhibition texts and publications, and considerations when using AI for documentation. There will also be discussions on how your choice of documentation affects processes such as sensitivity reviewing, preparing for archive deposit, future thematic analysis and reuse.
This workshop is designed for anyone who is recording oral history interviews or preparing interview documentation.
The training programme is accredited by National Life Stories at the British Library and the Oral History Society. This workshop does not cover oral history interview technique or recording methods. These topics are covered on other courses such as Introduction to Oral History and the Advanced Oral History Workshop.
Course structure
This online training workshop is delivered over Zoom video call. The programme for the course is as follows (please note this is a sample structure and may differ on the day):

- 11:15 – 12:10 About oral history transcription
