The Oral History Society (OHS) is committed to delivering your membership benefits to you in an efficient and timely manner that meets your expectations and needs. We are a voluntary organisation mainly run by volunteers and with few paid staff. Your membership tier provides you with benefits such as discounts on events, conferences and training, and access to discussion groups. Many of our services are delivered through our website (www.ohs.org.uk). All members receive a print copy of the journal Oral History, mailed to you twice per annum. DELIVERY POLICY ON JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

UK addresses: Print journal copies are sent by second class post to your registered address and our aim is to ensure that your journal arrives with you within 7 days of the publication date.

Rest of World and Europe addresses: Journals are sent by airmail and usually arrive 7-14 working days after the publication date depending on your country.

NON-DELIVERY

All print journals are mailed in a single bulk delivery in mid-March and mid-September each year. If you have not received your journal within eight weeks please contact us at [email protected] and we will aim to mail you a replacement. We cannot undertake in any circumstances to replace any mailed journals beyond six months after the bulk delivery date. 

RETURNS

If an item is damaged, we will offer you a replacement. Please notify us within 7 days of receipt of the order. We guarantee that all items are sent in good condition. If they arrive in less than good condition we will require photographic evidence of the damaged goods within 7 days of receipt to qualify for a replacement.

PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

Membership services including the print journal are offered subject to availability and may be withdrawn without notice, though we strive to avoid this. We also reserve the right to vary subscription and membership prices as our costs vary.

All membership fees are quoted in GB Pound Sterling. Your credit card company will convert any orders placed with the Oral History Society from UK Sterling into your local currency when they process the transaction at the appropriate currency rate and time.

PRIVACY POLICY

We do not store credit card details nor do we share membership details with any third parties. The data that you provide will be held on computer in order to fulfil your membership and process any enquiries you may wish to make. The Oral History Society complies with all the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (EU) 2016/679 and Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA 2018).

Our Privacy and Data Storage Policy explains what personal data we retain, the lawful basis and legitimate interest for why we hold it, how we process the data and store it, and how you can access and update your data. By agreeing to these terms and conditions you confirm that you have also read and understood the privacy policy.

SITE SECURITY

We take online security extremely seriously and have taken several steps to ensure that your payment information is processed confidentially and accurately.

All credit and debit card payments are processed through Stripe, one of the world’s leading online secure payment companies. Card details are handled solely by Stripe and are not stored or known to the Oral History Society website, nor available to OHS personnel. Stripe achieved the highest level of compliance under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Stripe has PCI Service Provider Level 1 compliance, which is the highest level of certification for service providers under the PCI DSS and adhere to the most stringent levels of fraud screening, ensuring that customer’s details remain secure throughout the transaction process.

Direct Debit information is collected in accordance with the Service User Guidelines laid out by BACS.

Our website makes use of secure servers where information is protected by Secure Sockets Layer (SSL). SSL works with Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, AOL and other browsers. Encryption creates billions of code combinations to protect each transaction made on our site, so your card details cannot be viewed by anyone else using the Internet.

RESERVATION OF RIGHTS

Unless otherwise credited all content included on this website, such as text, graphics, logos, button icons, images, audio clips, digital downloads, data compilations, and software, is the property of the Oral History Society and is protected by United Kingdom and international copyright laws. You may not systematically extract and/or re-utilise parts of the contents of the website without the express written consent of the Oral History Society or the relevant copyright holder. In particular, you may not copy images, or use any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools to extract (whether once or many times) for re-utilisation of any substantial parts of this website, without the Oral History Society’s express written consent. 

UK law will apply to this agreement irrespective of the place of delivery.

DELIVERY POLICY ON JOURNAL SUBSCRIPTIONS

Subscriptions rates cover the cost of the print journals and postage but not any taxes that might be charged by countries on arrival. This is the recipient’s responsibility. 
When we mail journals we complete a UK customs declaration CN22 form and include a detailed description of the merchandise, its precise value, and the EU SH code ‘490290 : other periodicals’.

NON-DELIVERY

We issue invoices on receipt of purchase orders in GB Pounds Sterling (pro forma attached). For other currencies we add a 10% conversion and exchange rate charge.
