Guidelines for respectful participation across all of the Society’s activities, including events, courses, services, publications, and community spaces, whether in person or online.
Welcoming Environment
All OHS activities are designed to be inclusive and welcoming, where participants have the opportunity to both contribute their views and listen to others.
Expectations of participants
Everyone who takes part in the Society’s activities shares responsibility for maintaining a respectful and constructive environment. We ask participants to:
- Listen attentively and respectfully
- Be open to surprise, learning and reflection
- Engage with others in a spirit of mutual respect and tolerance
- Show genuine interest in what others have to say
- Treat each other with respect, even when views differ
- Exercise care when sharing information provided by others
- Remain mindful of the diversity we value
Commitment to Diversity
The OHS values diversity in all its forms, including:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender identity and expression
- National origin
- Physical appearance
- Political views
- Race and ethnicity
- Religion and belief
- Sexual orientation
- Other group identities and protected characteristics
Accountability
By participating in any OHS activity, participants agree to uphold this Code of Conduct. If these reasonable expectations are not met, participants may be asked to discontinue their involvement in the relevant activity and, in some cases, may also be asked to refrain from participating in Society activities.
If you have concerns about any behaviour that may violate this Code, please first contact the OHS representative facilitating the activity. If required, the matter may be escalated through the OHS formal complaints process
