Oral History Festival 2026
Saturday 4 July, 9am – 6pm
Location: Newton Building, Nottingham Trent University City Campus, 10 Goldsmith St, Nottingham NG1 4BU
The Festival offers a full day of interactive workshops exploring the many ways of doing and using oral history. The programme will focus on reflection, dialogue, and shared learning around the benefits, challenges, and risks of oral history practice. Sessions will cover topics including emotional labour and wellbeing in oral history work, co-production and community collaboration, and creative approaches such as transforming oral histories into poetry, performance, and drama. The programme also highlights oral history’s role in documenting environmental change and everyday climate experience, as well as community-led heritage initiatives, including LGBTQ+ archiving and storytelling.
Booking Festival Tickets
- Refreshments and lunch are included in the ticket cost.
- OHS Group Members may book up to four tickets at the OHS Member rate.
- There are two methods of payment. You can pay online via Stripe, or you can make an offline payment where an invoice will be sent to your organisation. Please select the appropriate option in the booking form.
- If you choose to pay by invoice please note that payments for the festival will be made to the Oral History Society, and the invoice will be sent by email following your booking. Contact the Event Organiser if you require further details for your purchase order number.
- There will be no refunds for cancelled places.
- In booking a ticket for the festival you agree to follow the OHS Code of Conduct.
- A limited number of bursaries are available. Please contact the Event Organiser for details.
